Top 5 Champion’s League Goal Scorers of All Time

The UEFA Champion’s League is an annual association football cup competition organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) since 1955.

As the format changed from a knockout competition during the 1990s  to include a round-robin group phase which resulted in an increase chance of goal scoring, the list of top Champion’s League goal scorers of all time falls in favour of modern players.

#5 Ruud van Nistelrooy

With 56 goals to his name, Ruud van Nistelrooy comes in at number 5 on the list of Champion’s League top goal scorers.

Van Nistelrooy is currently the coach of the PSV Einhoven under-19s team, however he played for Manchester United and Real Madrid during his illustrious career as a professional football player.

The Dutch striker scored 150 goals in 219 games for Manchester United and then went on to win La Liga twice with Real Madrid.

#4 Karim Benzema

With 60 goals to his name, Karim Benzema comes in at number 4 on the list of Champion’s League top goal scorers.

Born in 1987 in France, Benzema is currently a striker for Real Madrid and France’s national team.

While he struggled to establish himself in the beginning of his career with Real Madrid, Benzema quickly found his feet and scored 32 goals on the road to helping the Spanish club win the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the 2011/2012 edition of La Liga, both of which are incredibly popular on betting sites.

#3 Raúl

With 71 goals to his name, Raúl comes in at number 3 on the list of Champion’s League top goal scorers.

Regarded as one the greatest Spanish football players of all time, Raúl was an immensely successful striker for Real Madrid during his 16 year career with the club.

As the club’s second all-time top goal scorer with 323 goals, Raúl is also the most capped Real Madrid player with 741 appearances.

With 106 goals to his name, Lionel Messi comes in at number 2 on the list of Champion’s League top goal scorers.

Born in 1987 in Argentina, Messi is both the captain and forward of club Barcelona and Argentina’s national team and is regarded by many as one of the greatest players of all time.

He has spent his entire professional career with the Spanish football club and has scored an unbelievable 670 senior career goals for Barcelona and the country of Argentina.

#1 Cristiano Ronaldo

With 121 goals to his name, Cristiano Ronaldo comes in at number 1 on the list of Champion’s League top goal scorers.

Widely regarded as the best player in the world, Ronaldo is a Portuguese professional football player who captains the Portugal national team and plays in the position of forward for Italian club Juventus.

Having scored over 690 senior career goals for club and country, Ronaldo is also Portugal’s most capped player with over 900 appearances and the country’s top goal scorer of all time.
